Vella Campus has all the tools to be one of the most energy-efficient schools in the United States. Every classroom, the gymnasium, cafeteria, wood shop, and library are all daylighted using the Sunoptics Daylighting System. When you think of a school's energy usage, two things come to mind, the electric lighting and the HVAC.

At 50 foot candles of designed light level, the Vella Campus has the ability to keep their lights off 85% of the year, and at the same time reduce their air-conditioning loads.

 "Taking Pride in Excellence" is their motto. Their use of skylights fortifies that sentiment.
